Tea & Talks 3: The Marital Problems of London's Early French Protestants
This talk explores the records of the French Protestant Church in London, and their valuable insights into marital problems and the position of women in the capital in the 17th Century.
Jonathan Ouvry, Director of the French Hospital, will be delivering this talk, researched by Robin Gwynn. Robin Gwynn was Director of the British "Huguenot Heritage" national tercentenary commemoration under the patronage of H.M. the Queen in 1985. The author of Huguenot Heritage (2nd edition, 2001) and The Huguenots of London (1998), he has also edited primary sources relevant to the refugees. The first volume of his trilogy The Huguenots in Later Stuart Britain was published by Sussex Academic Press in 2015, and the second volume, “Settlement, Churches, and the role of London” has just appeared this year.
