Professor Edward Vallance tells the story of the Revolution of 1688 revealing new interpretation and understanding of this seminal event for all Huguenots.

Saturday 20th October 2018

Venue: Christ Church Lounge, Christ Church Spitalfields, Commercial Street, London E1 6LY

Time: 1pm

Speaker: Professor Edward Vallance

Until recently, the established interpretation of the revolution of 1688/9 was that it was ‘glorious’ in part because it was bloodless. New interpretations of 1688, however, have emphasised the degree to which political change in Britain and Ireland had to be achieved by military power: far from being peaceful, 1688 ushered in over a century of conflict between Britain and France, and transformed Britain’s army and navy.
